Shelly's BLU range uses Bluetooth Low Energy, which trades range for battery life. A BLU sensor runs for years on a coin cell because it wakes briefly, sends a few bytes and sleeps again.

How BLU devices connect

• Range — roughly one room. Any mains-powered Shelly device nearby can act as a Bluetooth gateway and forward readings.
• Battery life — years rather than months, so sensors can go in places you would rather not revisit.
• No hub needed — if a Shelly Wi-Fi device is already in range, it bridges to the app.
