The Shelly Dimmer2 is a Wi-Fi dimming relay that works without a neutral wire — the single most useful thing about it in older Egyptian installations, where many switch boxes carry only live and switched live.
Most smart dimmers require a neutral and are simply unusable in those properties. The Dimmer2 is not.
Before installing
- No neutral line required at the switch box.
- Wire colours vary by installation and local standard — do not assume, verify with a tester.
- Check your lamps are genuinely dimmable; many low-cost LED bulbs are not.
- A bypass module may be needed with very low-wattage LED loads to prevent flicker.
